Like Water off a Duck’s Back

The saying “like water off a duck’s back” actually is a real phenomenon! Ducks produce an oil that they rub on their feathers which causes water to bead and run off instead of absorb into their feathers (which would weigh the duck down).

I know this because I googled it right after God whispered to me early this morning that my word is Duck Feathers! “Say what? Lord, you think you’re funny don’t you?!?”

But do you see the significance… to be anointed with oil in the Bible means to be healed or touched… And water on oily duck feathers just rolls off… “Ok, Lord, I understand now.”

I’ve always been the black sheep, the odd one, the one that went against the grain. I’ve been bullied, gossiped about, and even told that I was responsible for my husbands suicide. I’ve lost friends and loved ones because of things they have heard or assumed about me. While this is awful, you know what is even more awful?

I’ve absorbed way too much of the bullshit and let it define me and weigh me down for far too long.

When you know who you are in Christ, I guess you grow duck feathers! 🦆🪶❤️
